Stop Telling Yourself "I Don't Have Time"

I used to tell myself that "I don't have time" all the time!

I don't have time to meditate.

I don't have time to see my parents.

I don't have time to go to my favorite dance class.

I don't have time to read.

A few years ago, I was in a high level management position, where I didn't even work crazy hours or anything, but I often got home after work feeling physically and energetically drained. All I wanted was someone to cook dinner for me and drop into my cozy bed and sleep.

I didn't have a very active social life either, not even an active life at all, because my mind usually just needed a break after work.

I CONSTANTLY CANCELLED MY SOCIAL PLANS, BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE TIME

On Sundays, I would sit down and make plans for the week and how I would go to my dance class and boxing class, or meet with a friend in the city for a drink.

However, when the day came, I so often found myself cancelling all these plans, because I had to finish something at work or literally had no energy to leave again after I got home from work.

I told myself "I don't have time to go out", because I needed to rest and was exhausted. Which, I mean, is fine. I decided to rest instead of going crazy.

But I wasn't aware that I actually decided what I did with my time ALL OF THE TIME!

YOU HAVE A CHOICE, MY DEAR

It was my choice to live this kind of life where I would get home every day in need of a massive energetic and emotional recharge.

It was my choice to skip the dance class, although I knew it would technically make me feel good.

It was my choice to cancel seeing my parents, because I would have to take the train for 1hr to get there.

It was my choice to accept that "this is it" for me back then. Life pretty much consisted of working, sleeping, and eating.

I was a total victim of my time.

HOW YOU USE YOUR 24HRS IS EVERYTHING

Once I started shifting my career, got certified as a makeup artist and started working on my first blog, I suddenly got out of this victim place. I started teaching makeup, worked with women on their self-confidence and felt amazing along the way, because I was doing something that recharged me.

I realized that I could do so much more with my time, if I really wanted to!

It felt like suddenly, I had more time. It took me quite some time until I realized that I wasn't using my time in a way that would fulfill me ALL of the time.

So I decided to change this.

Instead of telling myself "I don't have time to meditate", I started telling myself "I always have enough time for the things that matter to me". I made it a priority to take care of myself first, recharge, and not let excuses get in the way.

In case you didn't know: Everybody has 24 hours every single day. Beyoncé, Oprah, Michelle Obama. Your mom, your favorite influencer. And you, too!

It's up to you what you do with this time.
