Top 3 Tips to Feel Luminous in a Nervous and Anxious World

I recently hosted a full weekend retreat online with my mastermind clients (my mastermind is a 4-month intensive program). We talked about all things feeling luminous and I helped them see how little it actually takes to feel great in their bodies (you'd be surprised!). Especially in times we're in right now, where we don't know what the world will look like in a week or a month from now, it's even more important that we take care of ourselves and are present with what is right now (and don't freak out about what worst case scenario could potentially happen)

It happens so quickly these days (and often daily) that we get into fearful thoughts about the future, our health, and our loved ones with all the information that's floating around online and offline. And while there are so many moving parts in this that we cannot control at all, it is more important than ever that you control what is in your control: how you feel in your body.

So here are my top 3 tips to switch your internal light on when the world around you is trying to turn it off (even if it's not intentional!):

Tip #1: Get enough sleep

Before you roll your eyes, because you've heard this tip 100x already and I may sound like a broken record, let's do a quick checkin to see if you've had enough sleep: Are you tired? If the answer is yes, that means your body needs rest. Simple as that. Of course, your answer will depend on the time of the day it is for you, and how many hours you have worked or been busy today, but generally when we're tired, something is off, and sleep will certainly help.

One of my clients recently said "I feel really relaxed, I slept nine hours, but that was probably too much.". I am a firm believer that you cannot sleep too much. Your body will know exactly when you've had enough sleep and will wake up naturally. Just because for once you sleep nine hours, that does not mean you've slept too much. Most probably you've compromised with sleep earlier in the week, so your body is just catching up. Give it what it needs, so your light can recharge (just like your phone). You only have one body, treat it with kindness.

Tip #2: Stay away from negative energy sources

I remember when I was going to high school by train every day, we would read the free newspapers every day. After months of doing that, I started feeling really anxious. All they wrote about was negative, gossip, or trash. Not a single article was uplifting or positive. It was a source of energetic negativity and kindled more and more fear inside of me.

We are vibrational beings, which means that we send out and receive energy beyond words. Around our body, we have this energy field, the energetic body. The higher your vibration is, the stronger your energy field. The lower our vibration, the more easily influenceable your energy field becomes. It is our job to make sure that our energetic body is in healthy, recharged, and strong shape.

You are energy, and everything and everyone you get into contact with (whether you believe this or not) has an impact on your own vibration. So what is turning your light off right now? Which apps and websites are making you feel less worthy, not good enough, restless, nervous, fearful, and anxious? Who are you in regular contact with that drains you? You deserve to shine, and it is your very own job to make sure that your light stays turned on. So delete the apps, unfollow or mute the people you constantly compare yourself to, stop picking up free newspapers, and don't engage in toxic conversations. It is safe for you to set clear boundaries around what and who you choose to engage with. You deserve to be luminous.

Tip #3: Date yourself five minutes a day

What I always say to my clients is this: If you don't have five minutes, you don't have a life. You're checking in with work, with your co-workers, your partner, your parents, your friends, your kids pretty much daily, right? So you also need to do that with yourself. Checkin with yourself five minutes a day. It doesn't really matter what you do in these five minutes, what matters is that you do it. Here are some ideas:

  • Think of or write down all the things that have gone well today

  • Make yourself a cup of your favorite tea and sit on the couch

  • Open the window and consciously breathe in some fresh air

  • Think of 5 things that you are immensely grateful for

  • Write down all the worries that are making you feel overwhelmed, so you can "park" them somewhere

  • Close your eyes and scan your body

  • Meditate

I have a few meditations on my YouTube channel that you can listen to, or you can checkout my Spotify Glow Life Meditation playlist to listen to some deeply relaxing music.

How to implement these self-care practices sustainably

There are about 239 other ideas I could share with you here, but I know that as a perfectionist, the more things you get, the less you're actually going to implement! So let's make this easy for you! Here's how you're going to get sustainable results over time (not from one day to another, so be patient with yourself!):

  1. Which one of these three tips are you going to implement first?

  2. Stick to it for at least 7 days.

  3. Be kind to yourself in the process. It's not about being perfect, it's about taking one step at a time.

You got this, beautiful!

Much love,

Martina xx
